China: Day 4

Beijing to Zhengzhou

We said goodbye to Alice and headed to Zhengzhou. This is the capital city of Henan, Aunna's province. Crazy, we're on our way...one step closer!

The kids journaling their trip so far on our flight. It was hard all trip to keep up on the journaling with all they have us doing.

We saw this ferris wheel on our way in.

We made it to the hotel. We affectionately referred to this city as "Scooterville"
Craziness! You will see why in upcoming posts.

Jenna liked this cool white leather chair. She sat down and said,"Mua-ha-ha-ha!" Funny girl.
Almost not the youngest...

A very nice note, fruit and stuffed animal from the hotel.

How sweet is this...three cribs outside our rooms. All three families that stayed at this hotel were placed on the same floor. It was really fun!

A trip to Wamart was on the docket for our first day in Zhengzhou. The foster care or orphanage where your child is located gives a list of their formula and things they use so you can gather the supplies before you receive your child. We went with our guide to this 4 or 5 story Walmart. It was about 5 blocks from our hotel. We dodged many scooters, bikes, people and cars to get there.

They had these magnetic shopping carts for the escalator that takes you from one floor to the next. Great idea!

Our travel group of 4 families had planned ahead by email to meet up for dinner the night we all arrived in Zhengzhou. It was great to put faces to names and hear everyone's story. In just 4 families we had 18 in our group before receiving our children. (As I mentioned before one of the families had been fostering their boy for 10 months leading up to this trip so they already had him with us.)

This is our hotel. Half of it is under construction.

We got unpacked and I tried to organize. This is our baby station.

It was crowded but we made it work.

Here is the line up of all of the gifts we had to bring for various officials and workers and other stuff.

We had that nice white leather desk chair removed. We were warned by our guide that other families had to pay for the chair because it was ruined by their kids. Not part of our expenses plan so we had them take it out. It also gave us more room.

Last night as Obwald5! Du-du-duuuuuu!
